Never Miss the Urgent Stuff

Email alerting is a built-in routine that watches your inbox and pings you when something time-sensitive arrives, so you can stay out of your inbox without missing what matters.

Before you start

  • A connected Gmail or Outlook inbox.
  • A plan with Assistant features.
  • Not turned off by your workspace admin. If it is, the card shows Disabled by admin.

Turn it on

1

Open the routine

Go to the Routines page. On the Personal tab, find the Email alerting card (“Alerts you to time-sensitive emails”) and click it to open its drawer.
2

Flip it on

Use the enable switch. While the routine is off, its fields are greyed out, so turn it on first, then tune it.

Tune your alerts

  • Alert instructions — describe what counts as urgent. This drives what gets through:
    • Time-sensitive meetings: “Only alert me about meetings within 30 minutes, or emails that seem extremely urgent.”
    • VIP senders: “Alert me when I get an email from [VIP client].”
    • Specific threads: “Alert me if someone replies to the proposal thread.”
  • Delivery channel — where alerts go: a text message, a Slack DM, Lindy chat, or your default proactive channel.

Connect another inbox

At the top of the drawer, each connected inbox shows as a chip, with a + Add account button beside them. Click + Add account, choose Google or Outlook, and follow the prompts to link another inbox. Settings are per-account, so pick the chip first, then edit.
This pairs well with iMessage & SMS. You get pinged on your phone and can reply to Lindy right there.
